  • Five Yoga Classes with an expert yoga teacher. Padma is capable of teaching beginners, people with some experience, and people with a lot of yoga experience. All welcome. 
  • Releasing neck, shoulders and hips: a mix of restorative and dynamic practises to assist you in letting go of tension or pain.
  • Forest and lakeside walks  
  • Optional extras: talks and kirtan (traditional yoga music) and additional aromatherapy massage.
  • You are welcome to stay Sunday night (€30 / £22)

 Friday

 
 6.00pm  Approximate arrival time. You can arrive from 3.30pm if you wish. Some people like to book a massage after their journey. Therapies cost €39 or £30 for 50-minutes: aromatherapy full-body massage, Swedish massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Indian head massage, and more. Generally Elizabeth is available who does Sports massage.

 Saturday


 
 6.35am*

 Option to take a boat service over to island (across 300 metres of lake water) to visit temple. Although an optional activity (due to the early morning rising) we recommend you join in this fascinating cultural experience. The temple's first programme is at 4.30am every morning, so this the second half of the morning programme.

From 7.00am there is the attendance of the 'Greeting of the Deities'. This ceremony begins with some spiritual music arranged by George Harrison (of the Beatles) in 1970 - George played the harmonium for the recording.

The programme continues with some chant music and an arati - aratis are ancient ceremonies that have taken place in Hindu and Buddhist temples for millennia.

Afterwards there is a talk on Bhagavad Gita, a Sanskrit philosophical text. Guests are welcome to stay for as long as they like, or may relax elsewhere on the island, as they wish. We depart from the talk early. (Image below: Lough Erne beside Inis Rath)

Note: as breakfast is later, you're welcome to take little snacks during the early morning time if you feel hungry.

 Departure for the Killashandra Forest Park for a woodland walk.

 4.50pm  Return to the retreat centre. Massages available until 9.45pm

 1.00pm

 (optional) Talk on Bhagavad Gita - an ancient text covering many of the subtle aspects of Vedic philosophy. This talk will be focused on Bhakti-yoga, which is the yoga of developing pure love. Another option is to use this time to walk around island. There are many outdoor paintings and murals depicting Krishna and his friends.

 3.15pm  Departure by ferry. You are also welcome to stay longer. The next return ferry boat is at 4.30pm


 

 

About Padma 
(Patricia Rafferty) - the yoga instructor for this retreat

 

Padma began practicing yoga in 1991 with Norma Duffield, and received her yoga teacher training qualification from the Yoga Fellowship of Northern Ireland in 2001. After 8 years of intense training in a bhakti-yoga ashram living a monastic lifestyle, she gained an in-depth understanding of yoga philosophy and psychology, mantra meditation, vegetarian cooking and Ayurveda. She has studied with teachers from various yoga traditions including Mira Metha, Ana Forrest, Hamish Hendry and John Scott, and has taught in Ireland, the United States, India and England, working with people of all ages and levels of practice.

 

Maintaining a regular practice has allowed Padma to develop a deep, practical understanding of the therapeutic nature of yoga and the endless ways it can be adapted. She empowers others to experience the healing power of focused mind, breath and body work within a safe environment.

  • £170 or €200 per person in shared accommodation from Friday until Sunday 
  • £170 or €200 per person for two or three friends sharing a private room  (or double room) from Friday until Sunday
