A busy lifestyle and work commitments often lead us to make unhealthy choices concerning our diet, exercise and recreational activities which can result in ill health, anxiety, depression, burnout or just a general state of unhappiness. Classical Yoga offers an abundance of techniques to overcome this state and to move towards total health and self-development.

Over the course of the weekend we will explore some of the techniques to achieve total physical, mental, emotional & spiritual health. Those will include Asana Practice (postures & stretching), Pranayamas (breathing techniques), Relaxation, Meditation and Kriyas (body cleansing techniques).  
For Beginners to Intermediate yoga levels

Chrissie

Chrissie is originally from Germany, though has a sweet Irish accent. She's a Yoga teacher, a tour guide and a nice person. She sometimes travels Ireland in coaches assisting German-speaking tourists with their holiday. But back in Fermanagh we like to invite her to share her unique yoga tips on our retreats. She trained in Doi Saket, Thailand with a school which traces it's lineage back to Paramahamsa Madhavadasji, in the line of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

You may arrive anytime from 3.00pm +
The earlier the better so you can enjoy one of your massages / therapies. One 50-min and one 30-mins therapies included in the package. The massages, reiki and sound therapy etc available are here:

 6.45pm          Dinner

 7.30pm  1st Workshop: Introduction to yoga & a yogic lifestyle. The four Pillars of yoga: Nutrition, Relaxation, Purifying Body & Mind and adopting a positive attitude in life. 

 



 Saturday

 
 6.35am*  Option to take a boat service over to island (across 300 metres of lake water) to visit the Krishna temple. Depart from island again with plenty of time for morning yoga.

Attendance at the 'Greeting of the Deities' in the temple. This ceremony begins with some spiritual music arranged by George Harrison (of the Beatles) in 1970 - George played the harmonium for the recording.

The programme continues with some chant music and an arati - aratis are ancient ceremonies that have taken place in Hindu and Buddhist temples for millennia.

Afterwards there is a talk on the Bhagavata Purana, a Sanskrit philosophical text. Guests are welcome to stay for as long as they like, or may relax elsewhere on the island, as they wish. We depart from island at 8.15am

 Yoga.

Asana Practice (suitable for beginners & intermediate level) - Light Stretching, Yoga postures and Relaxation to get in tune with our bodies.


 10.15am

 Breakfast, followed by rest-time


 

 11.45am

2nd Workshop: “Clean Body, Clean Mind”. Demonstration of cleansing and detoxification techniques to purify the body.  


 12.50pm

 Drive to the Killeshandra Forest for a 1 hour 15-mins walk.

 Picnic Lunch


 3.30pm

 Return to retreat centre. Massages and therapies all afternoon and evening.

 4th Workshop: Meditation & Pranayamas 

 

 12.10pm Depart for ferry to island for temple music chant (30mins) and relaxing around Inis Rath Island

  1.00pm  Talk on Vedic wisdom and philosophy open to the general public. You are also welcome to walk around the island and relax during this time.

  2.15pm  The Sunday Feast

 

 

Departure time is from 3.15pm on Sunday for people leaving the retreat early. Another ferry departs from island at 4.30pm.
